Everything’s Better With Cat Hair

KiKi’s random musings and daily happenings

Happy New Year!

Yep, it’s been a while.  Hopefully now that things have finally settled down here I can post a little more often.

Hope everyone had a great 2008, and wishing everyone an even better 2009!

Home again!

Well I made it home safe and sound!  Got in on Wednesday afternoon.  I miss my momma, but it’s definitely nice to be back in New England.

I spent most of this morning processing and uploading pics to my gallery, so be sure to check them out!  They’re in the St. Augustine album on page 2.  :)

Not much else going on at the moment.  Just trying to get back into the swing of things.  This weekend is for quality time with the hubby.  The rest of the stuff around here will get started on Monday.  Really!

Holy cow, time flies!!

So it’s been almost a month since my last post.  A very long, very boring-ish month.  Let me get you caught up.

Flew back down to FL on the 4th.  About a week after I got her, my laptop was eaten by a virus and even though I have up-to-date antivirus software I just couldn’t shake it.  Stupid malware. >:(  Soooo I’ve been sharing mom’s laptop and haven’t been online as much…and haven’t posted here either.  Blah.

Mom had a myelogram on her back, and the Dr decided to do surgery.  Mom had the surgery on the 22nd.  They decompressed the nerve on the left side of her spine.  She’s feeling a lot better now, but is still having some left over aches and pains from the surgery/incision.  The Dr said to give it a little more time to fully heal and then he’ll re-assess.  She will finally get to go back to work, and she’s thrilled!  And I am too :)

I’m heading home (hopefully for good) on Wednesday afternoon.  Got a flight through JetBlue for super cheap.  Luca is thrilled.  And I am too :)

And that’s pretty much it.  Oh, and the Florida/Georgia game is today.  Here’s me and my team spirit:

GO DAWGS!!!

Girls’ Day Out

Ok, so I’m nearly a week late in posting this, but whatever.  <_<

Last Monday my friend Courtney and myself headed into Boston for a girls’ day out.  We met up at North Station and then headed over to the Prudential Center for some lunch and then some shopping.  Here’s what’s left of lunch:

After we finished up there, we went to Teavana and tried some free tea samples.  I also bought a couple teacups that I’ve been wanting for a long time which were finally on sale for 50% off.  They’ve got kitty cats on them, so it was only natural that I had to have them.

Our next stop was Lush on Newbury Street.  I love Lush, and I love sharing Lush with my friends.  I bought several bath bombs, a couple emotibombs, and a bar of my favorite face wash.  Courtney got a shampoo bar and some moisturizer, not much but I’m sure she’ll be back for more. Mwahaha!

Then we headed over to Quincy Market to do some more window shopping.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) nothing really caught our eyes, so we left empty handed.  But not without stopping at Zuma Tex-Mex for margaritas!  I tried the Neon Pink (strawberry-banana) margarita, which tasted like a smoothie with a kick.  My next drink wasn’t a margarita, but this thing called a “Mount Fuji”.  I don’t know what was in it, but I know that it will be the only thing I ever drink when I go back to Zuma.  It was soooo delicious!

After our drinking expedition, we managed to stumble our way back out into Quincy Market…laughing and giggling all the way back to North Station.  We bought our train tickets and looked for a spot to chill out while we waited to board our trains.  Once we found a spot, we found ourselves pretty bored, so we headed over to “The Hub” bar and grabbed a beer:

Somehow I made it to my train, but when I plopped down into my seat I was definitely feeling good!  What an afternoon!!   Courtney and I have resolved to do this again at least once a month, and hope to recruit some more drunkards friends to join us.  Can’t wait for the next trip!

In other news, I’m back in Florida again.  Mom is having a myelogram on Tuesday morning.  This test should give the Dr. a better idea of what’s going on in her back, and will hopefully lead to a less invasive surgery and a quicker recovery.  We’ll see what happens…

Home for a few days…

Got in yesterday afternoon.  Finally getting to spend a little time with Luca after being gone for 6 weeks.  Heading back to FL on the 4th though.

More updates later…

I love you, Ivy.

I know you’re resting peacefully now, but I sure do miss you.

You were a good girl.  I miss you.

YAY! The front yard is clean!!

Oh happy day!!  Finally got the rest of the front yard cleaned up.  Check out my huge pile of limbs and branches!  It’s awesome, I know.  ^_^  I’m exhausted, but it’s such a good feeling to look out the door and see a nice, clean and tidy yard.  I’m so proud of me.

And on another positive note…there was no spidey to greet me when I showered off today.  YAY!!  I was almost certain there would be a brother spidey waiting to attack me and avenge the death of his brother.  Unless he’s still waiting to catch me when I least expect it.  Spideys are sneaky like that, you know.  <_<

In mom news… She had her shot today.  Her left side is doing a little better, but now her right side is giving her trouble.  The Dr gave her an extra day to recouperate, hopefully that will be all she needs.  We’ll see how the next 24 hours go.  Wish her well!!

Fay Fay Go away

Ugh.  So we had pretty much 2 days of nothing but rain and wind, and now another two days of off and on rain (it’s raining again as I type this).  The yard was pretty much a swamp for a while there.  And now that it’s starting to dry up, it’s time to pick up all the debris left from Fay.  So far I’ve got 1/2 of the front yard done.  Just big limbs and branches though.  Lots of little clumps of leaves and sticks that need to be raked, but that can wait for now.  I still have the other half of the front yard to do, and all of the back yard.  And man oh man it is hot outside!!

And if hot, sweaty yardwork wasn’t enough… When I came in to cool down and shower off, I was faced with my biggest fear.  A spider.  In the shower.  Watching.  Waiting.  HE WAS GOING TO EAT ME!!!  *cries*  And of course he was all sneaky and spider-like and waited until I was completely soaped up to come out of hiding.  I feel so violated.  :(

Baaaa! I’m a sheep, see?

Well, I’m on Facebook now.  Just like everyone else.  But hey, at least it’s not the evil entity that is Myspace!

Come see me and be my friend!

In other news, I’m still in Florida…duh!  I’ll be here for a while, so if ya wanna see me, you gotta call me!!

Not a whole lot else going on.  Did some grocery shopping the other day.  Been trying to help around here by cooking and doing laundry and dishes and entertaining the doggly.  Yesterday we went over to a friend’s house for dinner, but we didn’t stay long because mom’s back started to hurt.  She was glad to get out of the house for a while, but she’s finding she still needs to take it very easy.  Poor girl. :(  Her shot is scheduled for the 26th, let’s hope it works and she won’t have to wind up with surgery…

Now it’s off to facebook to make more friends!

I’m here!

Made it to Florida A-OK.  Mom is quite pleased to have me here, and I’m pretty glad to be here.

Not too much going on at the moment.  Just relaxing in the living room for now.  I’ll be heading off to the grocery store shortly so I can restock the fridge and cabinets and get to cookin’.  I believe there are come chicken enchiladas in our future.  hehehe

Oh, and for the next few weeks…everything is going to be better with dog hair.  :)
